ok so ive seen se sc and sle sc and sse sc. was their ever a 98-99 sle sc? if in 98-99 the sle got the looks or a sse and ssei was the sc ever an option to make a sle sc that looks like a ssei but with the weight of a se?

Huge misconception there Pat, the H4U(SLE) is an option PACKAGE, it cant be an SLE until it was officially recognized as a trim level, i.e. had a factory placed badge. If the SLE was a offered trim line you would find ads from 92-97(?) offering the SE, SLE, SSE, SSEi, but so far I havent found any. The SLE replaced the SSE trim.

I have a 1996 SE SC with the H4U option package. It is officially a SE trim level though, it is the car pictured in my sig.

The point Pat is making is that you couldn't get the SC without the SLE (H4U) package. There'* a gray area between the years with the package and those that are badged because of inconsistency on Pontiac'* part.

We wideley refer to all of them as 'SLE'. Whether badged from the factory or not. The SLE had many different features when compared to the SE whether it was just a package or not, including the front grille and side cladding.
