acctually 8x8 door
yea i have the same one motor burned out on me so EVERY morning i had to go out there and lift the door did your spring break in the up or down area
and there should be a red cord and if there is where is it locatted cause there is a way you could open it
I wish it was just the auto opener motor that failed. Then at least I could manually open the door as you did using the pull cord disconnect.
In the case when the spring breaks, the entire weight of the door has to be lifed and locked in the full raised position. I'll bet that the door weighs well over 300 lbs.....and there isn't much of a handle to grab.

The spring is supposed to come in tomorrow Noon.
A carpenter is coming over to install it with the proper tools for winding the spring. I will help and ensure we are both wear the proper protective equipment.

weekling i lifted that 300 pound door for 2 months AND ABOUT THROWN OUT MY BACK
so yes not to wear it out but be carful of where things land below whatch out for that car and good luck
