Post should i just post my car in the barter section of craigs?

i love my car i really do but im getting sick and tired of dumping money into it. at this point im into it about 4-5k just to make it stock. shocks brakes tranny (over 2500 added up) and now im about to buy tires. and what burns me is now the tranny is shifting hard again, and i noticed the cv joints are starting to go. at this point im not sure if i even want to have it worked on again because im sure he will tell me oh im sorry its she shifting solenoid or electronics or valve body and those arent warrantied. im just so tempted to post it for barter and see what happens.

anyway thanks for listening to my rant. just crappy luck i guess.

If you can do your own work it'* easy to keep a car because fixing it is cheep. But if you have to have others fix it all the time, that'* different. Only you can make that choice.

Certainly is a matter of personal preferences. Making you own repairs is much cheaper than having someone else do it, but then your time may be well worth having someone else do it as well. We really can't advise you to sell it or not.

We can advise you to take the car to a mechanic and have them diagnose what ails it and give you an estimate. Then make the decision based on $$, your time and whether or not you are an experienced enough of a mechanic to tackle the job.

thanks for the replies. for those that dont know, my finances are what i can shovel rake and mow lol. i really want to keep it, but when im charging $10 more than te competition in the summer its hard to keep gas in it. speaking of which i need some and its about $3.19 or so at the cheapest gasstation around...

as far as repairs, noone is allowed to touch my dads car and my mom is usually busy all day so i end up taking it to a shop alot. although i dont think id tackle the tranny if you paid me. i dont know really what i want to do. ill give the car a little bit of time, who knows it may just be a wear in period or something. but when i take it to the tranny shop, i think that will be the decision maker.

thanks again for listening to my rant lol.

on a good note, i just washed the salt off and it looks like that last min wax mid oct is paying off. everything came off in a 4min powerwash and it shines like the day i waxed it.

You know I did the same thing, I wondered would it cost more to fix it, trade it in or sell it. Dont make a fatal mistake of trading it in, because if you do and you have $400-$450 car payments each month, just think of how much money you can put into it paying that much every month. Don't worry on how much blue book value of it is, cause it aint worth anything at this point, just worry about how much its worth to you. If not sell it and find something more reliable straight up without car payments.

Just keep it!!!! like alot of others have mentioned...use this car and learn how to fix...the experience you gain from working on your car is worth more then purchasing a new car!!!
