Default Should i?

I am normally on saturnfans, as I am a current saturn owner. I am considering a bonneville that I saw for sale at around 4k. I'm not sure of the year, but it is the mid 90'* rounded style, Hunter Green SSEi. I'm taking a guess at 94.. I am going to go actually look at it closer today and might have more info.

What I'm wondering, is in stock form, what HP does it put out? What is the 0-60, and what kind of 1/4 mile times to people pull? As far as mods, are there many parts providers? Is a chip available that does something useful? (none avail for my 95 SL2).
What kind of boost does it put out stock ?

Appreciate any feedback,

Thanks,

The 94 put out 225 horsepower, but also a truly amazing 275 ft/lbs of torque. Unheard of in most v8'*. No sure what the 0-60 is, but saye bye-bye to any mustang GT you tangle with. That supercharger gives you the low-end grunt right now. Chips are available, and alot more stuff than there was a year ago. Pretty much anything you might want, except body kits. The SSEi already has a body kit, so you're set.

Boost should be running 9-10 psi this time of year at WOT, under load. The cold weather helps. 8-9 psi in the summer in stock form.

Default nice

Sounds like a bit more fun than the SL2, though I would greatly miss the 5spd.

What are people using to set boost values?

To 'set' boost values?

There isn't anything to 'set'. This isn't a turbo with a boost controller. It'* a Supercharger. You can vary the size of the pulley or use an intercooler to increase boost. It'* variable througout the rpm band.

Drive it and watch the boost gauge, you'll see what I mean. No turbo lag, either. Comes on RIGHT NOW when you dump the loud pedal to the floor.

I find the best way to scare the hell out of myself is to wait until it upshifts to second, then roll on the supercharger at that point, and whoooooaaaaammommaaaaa......

hee hee.. yea.... */C is fun...the only thing that startled me the first few times was when I stomped on it, and the traction control kicks in makin this horrendous tranny grounding noise. I thought I had a bad tranny or something at first.. but after talkin to a few other Bonnie owner.. it'* normal. Hope to see you with your new Bonnie soon, and start posting.

Default Closer Inspection

I went and took a closer look today.. It is a 93 SSEi. Is that the same specs as mentioned above in relation to the 94? Also he apprently wants almost $7k for it. It has 88k, but the interior is a bit rough, not too bad, broken visor, water stained head liner around the sunroof, few brusies and such, and the driver side outer trim panel on the passenger door is cracked making it difficult to open that door without further damage. Also the power door lock on that door does not function. Other than that it seems to be in decent shape, though I have yet to drive it.

eeek...$7G?

That sounds like a little much for a nine year old car...however the mileage is low, still, see if you can haggle a bit.

And if you are good at fixing cars, then this can be a project car for you.

Ugh. I'm sorry, but that sounds like a roach, and I think book value for a '93 SSEi the last time I looked it up was around $6K -- for a _good_ one.

I mean, seriously, if he hasn't bothered keeping it cosmetically good, I really doubt he'* been keeping up on the maintenance either. I'm going to bet that you'll find at least some of the following:

-- Really black oil
-- Weird noises from the supercharger, especially under acceleration
-- A blinking temperature display on the climate control for the first two minutes of driving (it stops blinking after that), which indicates that the A/C system has no freon in it, if not more faults as well
-- Flaky dash displays
-- At least three warnings for something or other showing on the DIC display
-- A rusty and/or wet floor due to the leaking sunroof (lift the mats and find out)

Keep us informed on what you find...
