Is it possible to get a shorter rod from the yard and switch it with the bigger one? Then I could always go back if I changed my mind.

you could try a shifter assembly from a 95, that was the first year of the cobra head....the 96+ have a different shifter assembly

i ll have to look on the spare shifter that i have, but honestly its better (and easier) to change the entire thing

I would, but all the assemblys at my yards at trashed, so thats why I was asking. Get back to me on what you find out
