Default The server (no, not more downtime)

In case any of you were curious (the computer geek in me would be!) about what the server powering this operation looks like, here'* a photo:

You also get a pretty good view of my desk and my desktop computer.

Notice the SSE shrine behind the monitor?

Bare compared to my gaming system! But Nice! I like the posters on the wall As well as the SSE Badge! I've got a TV & an AMP sitting on my desk. I've got full cable for the TV. The AMP is hooked up to my computer'* on-board sound card & runs my speakers in surround sound! I've added 2 extra cooling case fans too. This is for the computer geeks in this group!

Plus 5 cooling fans. I had way to much time on my hands.....

Sounds like it, BUT I LIKE YOUR STYLE though! I know my computer will be obsolete in about another year or two. But I BUILT IT myself and that is what really matters to me!

I couldn't agree more! I think the best part about getting a new computer is building it yourself

For an even bigger challenge, try designing a computer from the ground up.

Default Computer

I did in fact design and build the computer myself. A friend and I student taught a computer repair and maintainence class at the highschool so one week we let all the kids who wanted to build their own order parts from our dealer and we showed them what parts matched with what and we ordered our own. My friend unfortunately went with AMD (have a thing against AMD'*) and we spent acouple of days teaching these kids how to build. Great experiance.

Not sure who that was in response to, but I'm an Athlon man. I used to be gung-ho about Intel, which explains the server'* P-2. I have a Celeron 300A sitting in my desk drawer - anybody remember those?

I"m also a fan of the MIPS line of processors. In fact, my custom microRISC project used an adaptation of MIPS assembly.

How about OSes? I run Linux on my servers, Win2k Pro on my primary desktop, and WinXP Pro on my laptop.

Ah, fun times.

The celeron jab was just a joke and actually the joke is Iím out of my league you go any deeper than this and Iím out. LOL But I know who Iím gonna bug when it comes time to getting a new computer built. Lets see my last custom computer was built on an Asus board. Are they still anygood? My brother says my old computer still gets looks when he takes it in. hell its about 5-6 years old and it had a DVD player.
