BS!

The only way you would have beat a caddy is if it was a 4.5 sedan deville! My 96 sts walks over any GTP or SSEI. off the line were even till around 55, then i accelerate like there not even moving. Even some of the newer looking devilles don't have northstars. Theres no way a 170hp 3.8v6 could even beat a 4.9 deville. your so full of crap, northstars make 300hp and 295tq w/3.71'*. Northstars really shine in the high rpms, unlike SC 3800'*. off the line a L67 can hang with me for a little while, thats it. Ive never lost to a new GTP, and there lighter and faster than a bonneville.

some of the older sts'*, 92'*, and 93 sls'* had a 4.9, 200hp, 275tq. good off the line power, ran out of breath at 70, thats the only caddy a 95ssei could take. a 4.6 northstar takes amost anything on the highway except exotic sports cars.

96 STS - I don't know how you can beat GTP'* regularly. I beat a Northstar Cadillac STS with my 96 Bonneville SSEi and I can't touch GTP'* unless they are stock. It was from about a 10mph roll and I let him hit it first. By 77mph he was at my rear doors and the only places he seemed to pull on me was when my crappy transmission was shifting. Of course now I have a DHP computer so the shifting is quite a bit better. What kind of times do you run in the 1/4 and what modifications do you have? He told me if he would've shifted it though he thought he could've caught me. I don't think it would've helped him though.

well, it looks like youve got alot of mods, L67'* can be made to be real fast real cheap as you already know. stock vs stock a l67 is a off the line racer, after it gets some speed its done. a northstar is a high rpm engine, its best is on the highway, but with 4.6L and 3.71'* it has good power after 10mph. So at first ive always tied with GTP'*, ive only raced a 4doors (2) but left them after around 60-65.

the 4t80 also sort of has a built in shift kit, put it in 2nd and it delays the 1-2 shift and increases torque line pressure.

Currently I have cat-back exhaust, Intake and a larger Throttle body, MAF and TPS Enhancer. Acording to my Gtech (take that for what its worth) my 0-60'* are in the 5.6-5.9 range

Also this guy has a series 1 non sc, ive had this engine in a 93 regal GS, nothing exciting about it, couldn't touch a co-workers 4.9 Eldorado, let alone a 4.6 northstar

Im modded just like you, but your cars respond much better to mods, and have more of them, i have every mod available except ignition. So you may beat me, but theres no way a northstar would keep up then eventually fall back, if it was a heavily modded gtp i was racing i would get slaughtered off the line, but eventually start catching up.

In his story he says it kept up off the line then fell back, no way it was a northstar, or a 4.9 even the 4.5 would have taken him, must have been the 4.1

I agree that the Series I and even Series II in a Bonneville stock would probably be edged out by a Cadillac STS. I was just shocked that you were beating GTP'* so I figured you must not be stock. I am a member of STLCGP (St. Louis Club Grand Prix) and I have seen what the GTP'* can do. The President of our club with the same mods as me turned a 14.1 in the 1/4. He also took everything out of the car, took the headlight out, and ran race gas. I am just hoping for mid 14'* out of the Bonneville since the computer install. If I can learn to launch the car. My best currently is a 14.9 with a very lousy 2.3XX 60ft. This car spins the tires from anything under 10mph. That was with no weight taken out so I could see what it runs on the street. I only modded this car to have fun with the ricers in my area. It is actually my wifes daily driver so I will never get to radical with it. My 60ft. should be closer to 2.1 once I get the launch down so I figured it should be around 14.7 before the computer. I was shocked that I got the Cadillac but like I said it was a very close race. I asked him if it was the 300hp. Northstar and he said yes. It probably would've been me at his back doors without the 3.4 pulley. That and now the PCM are the only things that really made any difference that you could feel. What was the difference between 97 & 98 STS'* to give it the extra 25hp? I like the Cadillace STS'* but they are just a little too pricey for me and the Bonneville was actually just like the one I had looked at back around 96 - 97 but couldn't afford then. When I bought the car I had no idea about the Series I and II. I just got lucky to get the Series II which seems to have a lot more mods available. Although, thanks to some of the guys here that is changing. I believe it is WillWren who is running 15.1'* with the Series I which I think is awesome. It is hard to believe that my family car now is only about .2 - .3 seconds slower than my Mustang LX was stock. Technology is awesome.

the difference in the 97 to 98 is appearance, they got redesigned in 98, there also much heavier, the 98 is the slowest year, 96-97'* are the fastest. some sevilles have 275hp 300 tq 3.11'*(sls) the sts has 300hp, 295tq, 3.71'*. The Sls'* are faster off the line, there torque is at a lower rpm.

I too have seen GTP'* run in the 13'* for real cheap, easy to put them in the 12'*. It seems like there'* more of a aftermarket for GTPs then 5.0 Rustangs and Corvettes even, which is why i wouldn't mine owning one myself, have to pay of the caddy first though.

my best quater was 14.1 @ 107, 5.7 0-60 The high trap speed just goes to show the lack of torque, but ive chirped them good going around 40.

Cadillacs are dirt cheap used. i picked up a 96 sts with 73k loaded heated seats, sunroof, for 14k a little while back, never buy one new!

One interesting thing about the 4.4 bonneville, there currently making a supercharger for the 4.0/4.6 aurora and cadillacs. Im sure it would work perfect on a bonneville 4.4 when it comes out, Insane torque and highway speed......Northstars also respond well to NOS from what ive heard.

We'll find out about the 4.4 in 14 months. My wife has approved the purchase of the Bonneville GX/P. I will be ordering one similiar to my new avatar...same color, I hope. The first mod will be the lovely Vortec SC for the Northstar. I want 10'*!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! You sure the 107 was calculated right at the track. Usually that kind of trap speed is for 12 sec. naturally aspirated cars or mid - high 13 sec. power adder cars. My Bonneville SSEi ran 14.9 @99.2 and my Mustang N/A ran 13.1 @104.3. Either way the 14.1 is very impressive for the STS. It is fun having sleepers. I had a Trans Am messing with me tonight because he was driving aggressive so I caught him sleeping at the light and stayed ahead of him till I got out of it at 60. I did run him from 55 to give him a chance to redeem himself. He was still underestimating me and let me get on it first and from 55 - 70 I was in front but once I got out of it at around 85 he was all the way in front of me and pulling rapidly. It was an LS1 and he was a bad driver which made his victory a lot less than it should of been. Trust me I know that car should kill me from start to finish but it sure is fun to mess with them especially when the drivers suck. Family cars are the most fun I have had since I was younger racing my Mustang against all the older muscle cars that kids fixed up and didn't think the Mustang stood a chance. It is amazing how many people would make me open my trunk and hood looking for a bottle.
