The scanner will scan all GM cars, the credits are if you want to tune. You can also buy just the scanner software, check the price on that.

I'm still waiting on my toy from Scantool.net. I'll post results when it comes in. I don't even have tracking info yet. Supposedly they had system upgrades yesterday and a few orders fell through. Thanks butt munchers!!

If your going to get a scanner, make sure it handles enhanced scanning. That way you can scan for things like knock retard.

I have purchased a SnapOn Ethos scanner. Its their entry level scan tool that does codes VIN specific and Global Mode. It reads parameter IDs from every module of the car for example Rear Integration Module (In 00-05 Bonnevilles, Air suspension control) and door modules. ABS/Traction Control and Air Bag codes. It came with all plugs and data cords including underhood junctions for toyotas and hondas. It reads OBD1 and 2. It also does live data for 02 sensors, emission (EVAP) devices, Engine Data 1 and 2 I paid 1700. On the other hand of you wanted more you could go for the solus for 4K or the modus for 8K both are Windows based. As for the meter Flukes are the best. But you pay alot for them.. I have a craftsman. it was 15 bucks. Any other questions on scanners let me know. Ive done alot of homework.

I used to have that software. It'* OK, but I found it to be slow and limited. I find HPTuners VCM scanner to be a much better choice. Also, you have to pay extra for enhanced codes on that software and you have no options for tuning.

this is what we have at school, http://genisysotc.com theyre really nice for retreving codes, and accessing the ecm. they also have a bunch of things you can buy and plug into it, like an oscilloscope, and a 4 or 5 gas analyzer the only thing i dont really like is the data stream is kinda slow.

I checked Hp tuners web site it does not support 96. It would be great if I dump the beast. But not if I keep it
