Say it Ain't So: Back to Bonneville

Well folks, I'm not far away from picking up my second Bonneville.

1994 Bonneville SSEi, gold on gold on gold baby!, gold paint, gold wire rims, tan interior, 163000 kms (100K miles)

Beauty car, I'm picking it up next week from a fellow BC member who is a huge Bonneville fan himself. Should make a suitable second car to give the Aurora a break this winter.

SSsuperchargedEi 08-24-2005 01:04 PM

you're gettin yourself a good winter beater, congrats!!

Jim W 08-24-2005 01:06 PM

Shes to nice to be called a beater, see this link

SSEimatt93 08-24-2005 01:28 PM

Piss away my friend 8)

Gummy, the Aurora is a decent car in the winter, rides low, FWD, however I really didnt feel like taking off the 255's and I have a but of body work to do on the rear fender. Its to nice of a car to put it thru yet another winter. I can keep it underground, warm and dry for the cold months (drive it on nice days to keep it active) but use the Bonneville when I have to do daily driving in the winter.

The paint is in decent shape, the mirrors have a bit of paint fade, but thats ok for 12 years old, few faults here and there, but man, the pros waaaayyyy outnumber the cons, making it a great pickup for me.

Very nice Jimbo!! Supercharged power, woot. Dont sell that Aurora though, i think it would be a pretty good mistake. ;)

How much did you pay?

Also are you going to add any power mods to it or you dont go crazy with that stuff? I know if i had an SSEi, i would prolly be broke right about now.

banned3800 08-24-2005 02:38 PM

Jim is keeping the Snow.... He won't be selling it... The Bonnie is the Winter car

I think we have to Consult Angie on that one... Maybe when she gets up in the morning she'll take what car she feels like... Jim's pretty easy going right Jim ;)

beautiful looking car Jim. :) I've always had a thing for the 92-95 SSE/SSEi body style..

brianj 08-24-2005 03:03 PM

Nice ride! I have the same car, year, colour and interior, but with 242k on it.....and I tried selling it for $3500 but no takers! Enjoy the ride! It's the best looking colour for that year!

1994 was a particularly good year for the Bonneville in my never-to-be-humble opinion. Good job, Jim, I'm happy for ya!

sse1990 08-24-2005 04:05 PM

I have 1 thing to say to you Jim

BOOOOOOOST

Sorry just had to. That reminds me I really have to make hotel reservations for the upcoming Bonneville meet. I will put up a quick message on Malibuclub and make it a dual meet again this year.

I really hope I can bring the old girl ( Bonneville) down for the meet.

Jim W 08-24-2005 05:45 PM

Jeebus thats a lot of missed posts...ok

Lets recap,

Steve, yes I am keeping the Aurora, I don't want to put it thru another season, and I was feelin the need for some boost. The price tag was $4500 CDN firm. As for mods, I dunno yet, depends, I may do the exhaust if the money comes, intake, decrease the pulley to max teh booooost, it all depends. Angie isnt a fan of the wheels, so that might mean some other stock Bonneville rims...I have an affinity to Bonneville rims ;)

Winter car is such a harsh term, its a 2nd car ;)

According to Angie she will be driving both! Shes learning in the Aurora and loves it (plus shes uber hawt in that car...mmmeeeooowww!) but she will quickly learn to love teh boooooost (;))

Dano, maybe you should pick up a 92-95 SSEi to fill that need you've been having!

Brian, your old car looks exactly the same, any major issues in the addition 80K that you had on your 94? (this one I'm getting has 163 000 kms)

You guys forgot that I retired by choice, not because of the ride, I had the Aurora while I was admin, but stepped down to to schedule issues, just to busy to do the job, but its nice to be able to add the SSEi to the sig!

PJ, you can never be to humble! haha, and ya, its a 9-4 just like yer old (and Logans current ride)

Mike...we still need to get our act together for the beginning of September. Any ideas? heh

There...I think I replied to all

banned3800 08-24-2005 05:52 PM

well bud, just remember what I told you a long time ago...

You can check out, but you can never leave...... He He He

Nice to see a Bonnie will be parked next to the Olds... ;)

I'm sure that if you decide to change the rims, that there is a nice WHITE 1990 SSE that could use a second set of rims, lol. See sig pic below.

Nope nothing major since 116k except for brakes and a couple of front wheel bearings, but I have a bit of noise in the front steering so I'm thinkin maybe time for new struts. My '89 went to 350k without any major problems, it was the "A' pillar that rotted out making the passenger door fall off and a new front clip was not cost effective to replace at that point in time. Enjoy the car Jim, she probably has a lot of worry free dtiving left in her. ;)

Jim W 08-24-2005 11:22 PM

Awesome, I know that the front hubs had been changed already on this car, and the brakes were in amazing shape, the car stopped on a dime.

I'm hoping the car serves me well. I'm looking forward to getting it!

dbeast420 08-25-2005 05:03 AM

She looks really great Jim,not a bad price either.

Sure is nice to have boost under ya' butt!!!!!!!

BonneMeMN 08-25-2005 10:52 AM

What happens when the SSEi becomes the favorite?

Nice choice however. I still have mine.

Not gonna happen, the Aurora is to much "car" for it to become the less favourite in my books. I will enjoy the Bonneville, as we all should, however, the Aurora is the "Alpha car" in this relationship ;)

Angie likes em both, and will learn to drive both, that will give nice flexibility 8)

That random SE pic is Daves other Bonneville (not for sale)..he had 3 at one point!
