LIM aluminum gasket price increase?
The other day I checked my local Pontiac dealer for the price on the new aluminum lower intake manifold gaskets and also for an upper intake manifold gasket. I was quoted almost $90 for the LIM gaskets and almost $60 for the UIM gasket. About six months ago the same dealer sold the LIM aluminum gaskets for less than $60! That'* a 50% increase in 6 months!
Are you guys seeing similar prices from your local dealers on these items? I hope my local guy was just trying to fleece me and the price is more reasonable elsewhere.

Dealer prices will vary by parts counter guy and customer on a daily basis. They typically have 3 or 4 different 'markup schedules' they can pick and choose depending on who you are.
Run the numbers through GMPD to see if that'* the case. I know EK98 got the same lower price as you guys did, about 3 or 4 weeks ago when he bought his gaskets.

Yeah, Bill, GM partsdirect lists: GM LIST: $57.82,OUR PRICE: $36.08 for the earlier 89017816 aluminum LIM gasket and a couple dollars less for what some have reported as a new part number for the aluminum LIM gasket : 89017825
So, it would appear the counter guy was really tryin' to stick it to me. I asked him to please check the price as it seemed quite a bit higher than what they were charging just a few months ago, but he claimed the price was correct.
Tommorow I'll check with some other dealers who haven't just built a new showroom and service bay.

I don't have the receipt with me, but I believe the Aluminum frame LIM gasket was around $55 and the UIM gasket around $30 from the local pontiac dealer. Similar to the prices you say from gmdirect.
