Like already said, belt dressing will sometimes fix a sqeak for a while. Sometimes even a fairly long while, depending upon the reason and source of the squeak.

BUT,

Squeaks are most commonly caused by:

An old belt that is stretched past the ability of the tensioner to correct, or

a pulley of some sort beginning to fail and either you are hearing bearings going or the pulley is resisting the old turny turny and causing the belt to slip, or

a larger failure, such as a water pump or power steering pump.

Occasionally, the squeak will be due to an older belt that is somewhat varnished. This is where belt dressing gives the best results, but still not as good as a new belt.

However, NO Silicone!!! Bad idea that you will live to regret.

Which pulley or area does the squeaker seem to be coming from?

For some reason, I am weirded out by using WD40 on my belt, so I think I will pick up some belt dressing this paycheck and hope and pray its nothing more than that.

Boost, im not sure which pulley area its coming from but I know its coming from that side of the motor.

When I get home from work tonight, im going to take a cell phone video hoping it catches the sound. Its not a squeak like the one you would sometimes hear in long duration, its a little squeak that seems to be Rhythmatic (Spelling) and if I were to put it into readable content it would be:

Yep, this works. Done it many-a-time. WD-40, juice of many uses. Save your money and instead of buying belt dressing, borrow some WD and give it a shot.

However, serpentine belts are not prone to squeakage because they're not wedged in a V pulley - they use a tensioner to create the required friction on a flat pulley. I'd be putting money on a pulley squeaking, and more specifically, the tensioner pulley. Maybe squirt some of that WD-40 you borrowed in the pulley bearing area and see if that quiets things down.

Use the WD40 on the pulleys. If you have a long trip coming up, the last thing you want is a pulley going on you. My experience with belt dressing is that it makes belt squeak worse in the long run.

I would humbly suggest something other than WD-40 on bearing areas. It'* great for testing belt squeal, but use a light spray lubricant on bearing areas. WD-40 is not a lubricant.

This is true, but in this case it is suggested as a vehicle to locate the elusive skweek. I wouldn't suggest WD, silicone, chain lube, or anything else as a cure for the offending noise - that'* axing for trouble - but it could help isolate the cause.

I tried to get the sound recorded onto my camera phone, but to no avail. The noise I am experiencing is not noticeable in the video.

I guess I will try some of the suggestions mentioned here and hope for the best.

The noise does seem to be lower in the pulley area though.
