Road Trip Preparation
hmm, I go down to sarasota every year...nice down there.
anyways, back on topic! 700 really Is weak! I've done that in one day in-state!I consider a roadtrip anything over 2k. and a really GOOD road trip to be about 6k.
have fun and don't worry about the car, jees, I would trust MINE to do 700 miles. Just fix the oil leak and such and you'll be GOOD TO GO.
Enjoy!

700 miles is just over about two tanks of gas for my Bonneville. What do you normally do during two tanks of gas? Not much, probably! Check your oil level and tire air pressure level before you go, Check the air pressure level in your spare tire, make sure your jack is in the car, bring a sunshade since you're going to Florida. Maps, munchies, soda, and tunes. You'll be fine.
Check and top off all fluids before you leave.
Carry spare coolant, oil, gas, and a tire if you have it.
Be sure you have a jack, lug wrench, and flares (or simular)
I always carry a blanket, extra washer fluid, and a can of fix-a-aflat (There are some places you really don't want to have to a change a tire at)
Lastly Don't forget your WALLET because that REALLY SUCKS!! don't ask...

wallet, smokes, lighter, water, cell phone.
I'd fix your car first, if the gaskets are leaking badly.
to maximize fuel economy make sure you have a clean air filter, fresh tuneup, ie at least plugs and wires, recent 02 sensor, etc. 4mpg saved over 1000 miles is $25 in your pocket.
These cars are extraordinarily reliable on the highway though, if your going to have a failure it usually happens when your NOT on the highway, that has been the case in my experience.
Its your decision, if I had a problem with my LIM gaskets I would not leave home until it was fixed.

Come on guys, 700 miles may be weak for the human, but I'm refering only to the car itself. I've never had a car with this many miles before, and I need it to commute to school and work. The oil leaks are not going to be fixed by Saturday. Plus, it seems today is the day my cat decided to "Crap the bed." I'm hearing a loud rattle on acceleration. Would anyone do 700 miles with a bad cat? lol
Wheel bearings.
I may just be nervous about mine though, since I've already had two fail before 65k miles. Once they start making noise, it'* already too late.. Just jack up the front of the car and check for vertical play of the wheel.
