Looks like someone bottomed out a little too hard! Been there done that, but I ripped the flexpipe apart when I did it.

i know on my two bonnies i would have to paint 01 on the side of my car and jump it over a bridge to hit hard enough to do that

That happened to me once too. It had a crack and was leaking for a week or two before it broke off completely.
Turned out one of the rubber doughnuts was covered with oil, got weak and stretched out (maybe left over from when tranny cooler line rusted out?).

This was from Walter'* old '92 SE. Close inspection showed that it had been leaking badly for quite some time before it failed completely.

Look how very poor that joint is internally, for turbulent flow.
