I agree. I'd rather have plastic too. Both my front fenders have been cracked and destroyed, and I'm sure it cost less for the plastic ones (I could be wrong). Once I get my 99+ SSEi I'll just be careful the fenders don't get dented.

They went to steel fenders for the 1996+. The 1992-1995 had the plastic fenders. (Some one with a 1996 Bonneville, correct me if I am wrong)

I know they abandoned the all-plastic minivan body in 1997 when the next-generation design came out. I have no overwhelming desire to go buy one of those while my all-plastic '96 is still going strong. I don't have to worry about rust, door dings from idiots, etc.

Plastic fenders
After seeing the pics, I ran outside and checked the fenders on my SSEi. Thank goodness, they are metal. After the mishap in my Formula Firebird, I'm not so hot on plastic body parts!

Formula Firebird incident
acg_ssei: Please see my post on page 3 of this thread.
I would insert a pic, but have not taught myself to do so. You would be amazed at the level of damage from such a "minor" impact.
