Now that the new SAE numbers are out on all cars with the American cars gaining some HP and the Japanese cars losing HP under the new system, I was wondering if the Bonneville 3.8 is now rated higher? The G6 is up one horse to 201 under the new system.

Yeah, ALL Japanese cars lost horsepower (with the exception of th Infiniti something) to the tune of between 10-30 hp. The RSX Type-* was one of the biggest losers going from "210 hp" down to 165-170. Which makes sense, seeing as how a Type-* (around here) runs about a full second slower than a Cobalt SS/SC and SRT-4 (which have 227hp and 230hp, under the new system, SRT-4 hasn't been re-tested yet).

Good news for Detriot! And sure clears up a lot of confusion for me (like, how can a Celica GTS have "180hp" and still be so damn slow?)

My understanding for a while now is that GM and Ford typically rate reasonably accurate.
GM rates on the low side, Ford rating on the high side (ie Cobra). Never knew where the rice was, however it seemed a little overstated.
