Is there a reason pontiac made the 92-(95?) front quarterpanels plastic but not the rear ones? Why did they go back to steel in the newer ones?
i'm just curious. i like the plastic since i don't have to worry about rust in the front at least.

I believe it was just to save weight, similar to the aluminum hood on the 2000 and up bonevilles. Why they went back to steel instead of staying with something dent resistant and rust resistant is beyond me.
And probably because the metal fenders would be more expensive to replace for the consumer....? I'm glad I have plastic, but they actually are not that cheap either. I've had to replace both within a 2 month period.
