Can you name the NASCAR driver in the 60'* that put Pontiac at the top with a bonneville?

Hint-He died on the track with Ned Jarrett looking on helplessly

It was Glenn "Fireball" Roberts. But it was not in a Bonneville, it was a 1962 Catalina(close kin to the Bonneville just a little shorter and lighter). He died a few years later but he was driving a Ford at that time. He was involved in a serious crash on the track and was severely burned. He lived for a month after the crash but succumbed to pneumonia.
