I think it was a victim to the whole "cam vs. push rod" image perception so I don't think GM will be putting more money into further developing it.

from what I had read in the Motor Trend mag. a few months back, I thought that the G8 possibly be the replacement for the Grand Prix, having all the goods as the GTO, but I could be mistaken

yeah, when the GXP version comes out, its supposed to be a heck of alot faster than the GTO was. with what? the LS3?

Yes the G8 will replace the Grand Prix wich will be discontinued when the G8 comes out. & Ive read some good stuff about the new 3.6 Ill take a look at my mags to see where I read about it.

looks cool but I am sure everyone and their brother will own one.. I like being unique... not to many bonnies compared to grand prix'*.... and if they are replacing the grand prix with the g8, you will see them everywhere.

05/06 GTO had 400 HP. The heavier G8 GXP will have 36xHP... You do the math..

The G8 GT will have 362 hp. The GXP is unknown, but I hear it'* highly likely to have the LS3, at 430 some hp. Faster than a lighter GTO? I don't know, but Im thinking it'll be close with the 6 speed.

Last I heard all GM RWD was on hold. Something abut the new EPA MPG standards I think. I hope it gets resolved though.
