I use and aftermarket alarm/starter in my cutlass ( since the Bonne isn't on the road) nice to have one remote for the remote trunk, starter, alarm, door locks.
It'* comming out of the car very soon though since I took all the stereo out waiting for a new car. Thank god the KIA is out of the question. Got my parents convinced to stick with GM.
I've never had a problem with my vehicles ever getting broken into event withthe competition stereo systems in them, probably cause everybody around where I lived new me and it would take about a day for me to track the person down.

I had my car previous car broken into.. My 89 Cavalier Z24. They stole all my stereo equipment.. I had an alpine cd HU ( forgot model number ).. alpine 400 watt that powered all speakers except sub.. which was powered by Mobile Authority A1000 1000 watt unit.. hooked up to a passive enclosure housing 2 10" subs. They also stole my wicked folding lounge chair that actually is a recliner with feet support.. .. now I have to stand when at Timmis.. :? . They gained access by punching out the lock on the driver side.. ( caught a bit of it on security camera.. sure enough.. they were driving mid early 90'* white civic.. more reason to hate them ). Couldn't claim insurance because I don't have receipt for this items since I got them thru a friend. So now even though I have the factory alarm system in my bonnie.. I want to eventually upgrade it with another alarm system that has it'* own separate back up battery so when they think of trying to kill the power at the battery end.. the alarm can still go off. I am also going to modify it with a UHF mobile radio I have laying around that pumps 30 watts transmit power, rig it up to the alarm and have a UHF pager programmed to the same frequency.. this will give me coverage of more than 15 KM.. and strong signals even through shopping malls, so when the alarm goes off.. so will the pager. I am also thinking about disecting a tazer.. put the seat as ground.. rig the steering wheel as hot positive side.. so if the alarm system isn't de-activated.. and someone trying to steal my car sits down and trouches the steering wheel... ZAPP !!!! Instant fried Ricer....and off goes the pager.. and out comes the bat !!!

I am not trying to be funny, but I didn't think they steal in Canada. All of the stories I've been told was that you would get a ticket much quicker if you get caught littering there than in the U.*. and the gas stations have white paint on the ground, plus really friendly people. I just never had my log book right to check it out when I was on the road and if I did take that chance, I'd probably have a change of address no questions asked

Maybe this will help out why you don't have a factory alarm:

Um..I don't get it. What does a 1996 Bonnie have to do with why I don't have a security system on my '95? Am I missing something? :?
