Default Pictures of my Air Box Project!!!!!!

Heres some pictures of my recent Air box project. I replaced the stock pipe with a 3 to 4 inch rubber and pvc pipe combo. As you can see the stock pipe was very narrow at the end, so narrow in fact that I could put it in my new pipe. This did dramatically improve air flow without having to buy a pricy kit.

More more info, please see the post I wrote when I did this project:

The opening is actually about 4 inches. That is a 4 inch PVC Pipe. I have to buy some more black paint and paint it so it looks right.

Yeah, the little pipe you see in the pictures is the factory one that ran from the box to the back of the headlight. I just took that off and put my new pipe on it. The stock pipe couldn't have been any bigger than 2 inches at the end. with the new pipe its close to 4 inches, which really increased the air flow. I can't believe GM put a pipe that narrows that much in these cars. It really reduces air flow. I would highly recommend doing something like I did to anyone still using the 1994 or earlier style box. All its costs is 7 bucks in parts from your local home depot and is simple to do and really increases air flow. What I did is bought a 3" to 4" rubber connector and a small 4" peice of PVC.. I had to shave off some of the 3" side to fit my box. Then I put the 4" PVC in the 4" side. I just got dont painting it black so it look pretty custom. Really simple thing you can do to increase your flow.

Im trying to think of a different way of getting more air flow than what we have already. Might switch out the airbox & try something else. All depends on how much room we have.

My 98 was really easy, since the airbox goes all the way up to the light. Pull the resonators, open the front end, and Vroom!

I am not still wanting more flow without paying my life savings, so I am planning another project for when I get some extra $$. I want to buy a 3" peice of exhaust pipe that is alread bend, cut it to size, and get a big K&N cone filter for it. Until then this setup is working quite fine.
