Paint
Hello,
I will be doing some body work and repairs on my 1996 GMC Jimmy and would like to know if someone could tell me where to get the correct color paint for this vehicle. it is silver/grey, would i go to napa auto or somewher else to get the correct matching paint?

You could ask for the paint code at any GM dealership. To get paint for the car, you'd have to go to a car paint supply store like Sherwin-Williams. You could go through NAPA or another auto parts store that carries paint, but I believe you'd have a limited selection of generic colors including one silver that likely doesn't match.

You could also usee compnine and run the vin number and as long as your truck is in its database it will tell you the paint code and color of your truck.

This site says that the pait code should be located in the glove box:

I found a silver for 97 but not for 96. If they didn't change then it'*: 96/WA8867

Find a local auto paint store and talk to them. they will recommend a good paint and know which RPO code to look at. You will want a 2 part primer, a 1 part paint that you thin, and a 2 part clear. Sand after prime, then prime again, paint, then wet sand, and paint again, then clear and wet sand. Polish it up once all cured and it will look good.
