Default Owch!!

Note to self:

Let the engine cool down before trying to remove spark plugs.

That exhaust manifold is HOT!!

On another note, this is the first time I've seen spark plugs with a .060 gap I had to check with a gauge and the manual, I'm more used to the older cars with a .035 or so gap.

Welcome to the world of HOT coils that can jump a big gap.

Your OEM gap is also listed on the label affixed to your radiator core support.

Lol, yeah! When we say that changing them while engine is warm can make it easier to remove the plugs, we mean "warm", not "HOT".

So what part of your hand or arm is missing some skin now?

I'm guessing left or right forearm? I'd guess which one if I knew which plug you were pulling at the time.

I frequently pull parts off the car while it'* up to temp. Last night was an O2 sensor.. you really want to be careful with plugs and O2'*.. One moment will leave a mark.

Just a couple of knuckles with missing skin. #1 plug looked like the easiest to check.

You posted in the lounge. Pretty sure this one is bonneville related. I moved it to General Chat.

Last Saturday, I changed the oil and trans fluid right after getting back from running Saturday errands. Paid the price with a small reminder on my right forearm, since the Ranger'* oil filter is best reached from the top and I got careless, lol. I think most of us have done it. Some of us with less sense have done it multiple times and will probably do it again...

i pulled off the expressway and topped off my windshield washer fluid and without thinking checked the my front plug wires were tight and touched the manifold. You can pretty much watch as the skin blisters.
