What a bummer... are they going to give you a courtesy car ( rental car? ) since I"m assuming this is a dealer now...

I doubt there is anything wrong with the cam sensor itself, but the magnet hardware had a crack in it and needed to be replaced, once they pulled the thing apart, the price changed from $515 to $930, when I got the second call they had changed their mind and recommened that I get a new chain, new sprockets and everything else, no point in having half of the parts new and the other original...down the road its just going to cost me more.

The dealers could find anything if they look hard enough, now I have to budget the new sensor for the electronic crank whatever (code 42)

Its almost over I suppose

That code 41 is a disater, it rates up there with the crappy upper intake on Series II N/A'*

I know the money is goin to be well spent, and since I will have my performance back, I might throw in a strut bar for good measure.

Oh...you know the plastic grille on the top of the dash, I was told they pop out cuz the sun warps the plastic...you think the dealer could order one for me....what I mean is are they still made?

dude...thats one hell of an expensive dash pad...ah geez...

I have spent enough already, I'll just leave the plastic fantasic POS of a grille for now..lol. I should be more concerned about the mechanical work that is going on. Apparently the front end of my car, is in bits and pieces on the floor at the dealer

The crank sensor is no big deal. I bought my new one when I did the timing chaing and all for 20 or so bucks at advanced. It came loose recently and I had to readjust it and tighten it but it works fine now.

Wish I could say the same for my MAF.

Oye yoy oye...here we go

They have all the parts now, but apparently the tensioner that came off my car, is not the same as the OEM tensioner from 1989...anyone have any ideas why that would be.

The service manager called me to ask me if the engine had been rebuilt...as far as I can guess it hadn't.

First off, what is the tensioner?

I don't see why it matters what kind of tensioner it had on there. This dealership sounds more and more fishy.

The tensioner is just a little bit of metal with a hard plastic or maybe rubber block stuck to it. The tensioner slides onto a metal stud on the block and then a little spring is inserted to hold it agains the timing chain. Eventualy either the spring wears out or too much of the block rubs away for the tensioner to hold the chain tight anymore then the timing set has to be replaced.

Apparently the tensioner that came off my car looks nothing like the 5 tensioners that they orders, they have made calls to other dealers trying to find the matching part.

Ugh...I'm so outta gas on this one

This is really screwy. I dont like this dealer at all. My tensioner game with either the timing chain set or I ordered it seperately but ther was only one of them to order and I got it from Advance Autoparts

See thats what I don't understand, the part is universal, its not really a custom or performance part. So, I'm baffled as to why the tensioner that came off the car is different then the ones that they ordered. It seems pretty idiot proof.

All I know is that it had better be done, I got $1200 in my pocket just burning a hole ya...right
