I'm planning to get new tires sometime this year and finally get rid of the stock Goodyears (which make the traction and stability control come on during wet weather
). I went on TireRack.com and think I like the Pirelli PZero Nero M&* the best. The site said for my 2000 Bonneville SSEi I needed 235/55WR17 which they have on special for only $106. Now, first of all - does anyone have any opinions on these tires, or are there others that you really love? Secondly - does anyone know how long TireRack usually has tires on "special"? I'm not planning on buying them immediately. Any input is appreciated!

I don't know much about the Pirelli'*, others will chime in. I have Toyo Proxes TPT'* which I feel are excellent all weather tires. I've put about 30,000 on them with out problem.

alot of us with the 17" wheels move up to 255/50-17 tires.
i had 65k on my Michelins (235/55HR17) darn good tire , just wanted a wider tire and the BFG'* G-Force T/A KDWS only set me back $132.00 a tire. the BFG'* have the same treadwear rating (400) as the Michelin'* so i hope to get about the same mileage. the 255/50-17 tire has the same diam. as the stock tires just a little wider. the car looks good with the wider tires, GM should have offered the 255'* as a option. did i say the car looks GOOD.

I have Kumho'* on mine and they do the job just fine. Personally, I went with them because of the price (student in college here) but they aren't bad at all for what they cost. My dad has Pirelli'* on his 2000 SSEi and you really can't tell any difference. He actually prefers a lot of the cheaper tires over the Pirelli'* because he has yet to notice a great change in performance.

Ok, I went back on TireRack.com and looked at different sizes and now I'm not sure... Avon Tech M550 A/* are very highly rated but don't come in the exact size I need or the 255/50'*. They have them in 235/45WR17 for $108, 235/50WR17 for $131, and 245/45WR17 for $116. Would any of those sizes work? They're pretty close in size but I don't want to buy something that'* not right for my car. I still like the Pirelli'*, though. Help!

if money and tire life are what you want , go to the tirerack and look at the Kumho ECSTA-ASX (255-50/17) $103.00 ,420 treadwear grade(rating) . i think that is a 35 or 50,000 mile tire. also look at the test results, not a bad looking tire, came in 2nd, it looks like it would fit your needs. how long a tire last is important . you dont want to save $10 a tire and have them last only 25,000 miles. its better to spend the extra $10 and get a tire that will last twice as long. IMHO

stock tire has an overall diam. of 27.2" (235/55-17)
235/45-17 has a diam. of 25.4"
235/50-17 has a diam. of 26.2"
245/45-17 has a diam. of 25.6"
these tires may not look good (fill the wheel well) on your car.
no matter what you buy , have them mount one tire and see how
your car looks. Remember its YOUR car and YOU know what you like.
