Rod, SM is the gas designation CJ-4 is the diesel... that M1 you used isn't rated for diesel, but according to the article you posted..it'* death to your gas engine.

This explains the second motor I had..it was pre 2007.

Bill i know that the SM is the gas designation, i just did not word it right.
i think i will do a UOA on the M1 5w/30 and see what the Zn and P content is, if the
Zn and P are low then i will add some GM'* EOS Engine Oil Supplement (6 to 8 ounce)
and retest.

Rod, I've done a couple UOA'* on my car since running M1, and everything always looked great at 5k.

BW, i,ve also done some UOA'* on M1 for my car, it'* been in the car since new(first oil change at 100 miles). But since they reformulated M1 in late 2006 i know i cant use it (15w50 gold cap)in my bike any more. i just want to see what the Zn and P are in the new SM grade of oil. And as you know i do go a little long between oil changes (10,000 miles).
