I would not call it the Bonneville replacement yet. It lacks that "mean" look that was especially present in the 92+ generation. When you look at the front of a 92+ Bonne you can almost see a mean facial expression. Same with GP. In this one all I see is a spinoff from an Impala.
G8 to replace GP? God help us. That is a car that is making it big on sales and has a style that is traditional of Pontiac (and Bonneville!). That G8 better not have crappy interior and it better be roomy.
I guess its an end of an area for Pontiac for me, time to move on to Dodge and the Charger!

Yeah, I'm not sure where I'll go from here, either. Guess we'll see what GM finally comes up with. I don't think hoping that somehow GM comes to its senses and finds a way to bring back the Bonneville is out of date. Wishful thinking, maybe...but isn't' fantasy what life is made of?

yep, no more grand am, Grand prix or bonneville. just the g6 and g8.....g6 helps to fill the void between the grand am and grand prix. when gm was the biggest seller by far, they could get away with having alot of cars, and low quality interiors. they wised up some, less cars, less shared plateforms and upscale interiors (g6'* are very nice for there market)
and the G6 is available with a 175hp 2.4 ecotech, 200hp 3.5L (gt), 240hp 3.9 (gtp) and will have a 275hp 3.6dohc vvt (cts engine, in the gxp)
i think pontiac will have a very strong lineup, the solstice is the best car in its class/price too..i see the gto replacement being the "G7" maybe...
they're copying the europeans, a bunch of years to late (audi - a4, a6, a8, bmw, mercedes, all have code type model numbers)

We'll see what happens. Hopefully I'll be keeping my '97 for a few years.... enough time that the G8 is released and I can snag a used one that'* a few years old! I'm just excited that GM is finally moving toward RWD platforms again. My plan is to take a G8 and turn it into a powerful touring car, similar to a nice BMW or Mercedes. I'm all about the practicality of a 4-door with some serious giddy-up and right wheel drive!
(That'* why the Mercury Marauder rocks, IMO)
