A newbee'* question for all '00 and up SSEi owners
Just bought a 2000 SSEi and after I took delivery of the car I noticed that it didn't have an SSEi trunk badge, just the two door badges.I looked back through my issues of car mags and saw the Car &Driver test drive of the '00 SSEi,.....it had a trunk badge.(every last generation SSEi I've ever seen had a trunk badge on it.....but I haven't seen on the road any '00 SSEi'* and up,...yet)I went down to the dealership and said,"What'* the deal?"and showed the parts manager the C&D feature story. He looked it up on his parts computer and it showed the car as NOT having a trunk badge listed for the "00'*.......both thinking that that was strange,he then called GM,......THEY said that NO,ther is no factory SSEi trunk badge for the '00 SSEi'*!! Can someone please fill me in on the 'case of the missing trunk badge'?

yup, actually I've brought this up before in our "ride" section, I think one of our 00+ members purchased the emblems from GMpartsdirect.com? he told us it was like 30$ and the package came with two emblems, (note these are 02?&03 SSEi badges and only come in one color) but yea U can order a pair. Yea I'll be doin' the same whenever I can get my hands on a newer one.

Mine doesn't have one...my guess is it was a feature that was on the pre-release test car, but not on the later production model...which is okay with me cause that'* too many badges IMO anyway.

There was NO trunk SSEi badge on the 2000 and newer. If you looked at the date of the car and driver magazine you found that article in, you will notice it is February 1999. That was a pre release test car. The production cars didn't have them, because it saves GM a LOT of money to not put them on.

Yep. No SSEi badges on 00 to present. There is only a PONTIAC word on the bumper. The same goes for thr SE and SLE. The SLE from 96-99 didn't even have badging on them on the back, only the SSE and the SSEi had them. THats GM for ya once again!

lol
to much money? sure outa 100,000 bonnevilles made each year (I Have no frickin clue on production number) they would probably save 110,000 dollars. After a car rolls off the assembly line GM only put about 3grand into parts/labour...(not other stuff like Executive payroll, and testing of the car, mechinery)
So if say the kid parking the cars in the HUGE lot outside of there train station does a fender bender, if ammount to fix the vehicle (New parts) is more then half of what GM spent on the vehicle (so about $1500) they will just shred the car and send the dealership another one.
They wont even part it out. Say if its the duramax (like in my truck) and I wanted a new one, Id have to pay 8grand for it. but they shred a bunch monthly!!! lol they could part it out.. but they dont want defective vehicle parts out there...

Hey thanks for the replies,........that pretty much answers my question,.....but I also think that pretty much sux[and reminds me of the foolish idea GM Pontiac had with the '97-'03 grand Prix GTP'*......side door badges but No trunk/rear-deck GTP badge].GM can put them on the last-generation */C'd SSEI'*,but they don't on the newer ones!!(a pretty darn lame cost-cutting attempt,at best),.....how the heck is someone sitting in back of you at a stoplight supposed to tell (or be 'warned' )if your car is supercharged or not??I guess it makes little difference to me,'cause I ordered a single SSEi supercharged door badge from the dealership($31)and it is going on the middle of the trunk deck TO-day!
