Is the new Pontiac G8 will be considered in this forum site?

GM probably didn't mention the Bonneville since it has been discontinued for the past 3 years (corporate amnesia) and they figure that current customers don't remember them either .... so they mention the GP which is still available . (IMO)

When I took the service writer out for a test drive in my 02, showing him all the issues I was having with it. He mentioned the G7 would replace the Grand Prix and the G8 is replacing the Bonneville.

I agree with the people who think the G8 is none of the above. Independent suspension, RWD, LS2 V8, possibility of a manual tranny. Heck, it'* not even American! What does this car have to do with GPs? There should be a GTO/G8 club, that'* what I think

The current most popular G8 board has a high percentage of GTO owners.

And it'* an L76, not an LS2. Truck motor.

I like to think of it the G8 GT as a replacement for the SSEi but it really isn't because it'* V8 and RWD. That alone is a huge difference.

I have read, straight from GM somewhere that the G8 is replacing BOTH. The G8 Base will take the place of the GP and the G8 GT will be filling the position as a bonneville. Which supplements the logic of them skipping from a G6 to a G8, no G7.

It'* kind of a shame about the line-up gap between the G6 and G8. That'd be a perfect spot to fill with the Holden Calais....

I've been wondering about that gap, too. IMO, the G6 left a bigger gap between it and the Sunfire (G5). And this gap is even bigger.

As far as I understand it the Bonneville name is dead (at least for a few years), but the G8 is far from a GP. It belongs in its own forum....maybe a GTO forum, but not really.
