Are these winter weather tires? I'm assuming you want some all season setup. All up there save the MX4 are more for summer, and the MX4 are really overpriced for what you get.

Bought my Traction T/A'* in town and got lifetime everything, and come with a 70,000 mile wear warranty. The Ziex wear twice as fast, and wont be nearly as good as the BFG @ pure traction. THe Traction T/A has the g-force pattern but with more depth and sipes for more loose conditions.

I, like Bandit am running the Hankooks (slightly different modle due to rim size), and i have absloutly no complaints at all, they stick to the road like snot to a screen door

i have never seen a 2000+SSEi with 225/55-17'* as the stock tire is 235/55-17'*
most stick with the stock size tire or move up to a wider tire.
i have also never heard of a car handling better(dry)on a narrower tire over a wider tire.
i know that my car handles alot better with the 255/50-17'* over the 235/55-17'*
ask 2000SilverBullet if he would ever go back to the stock size tire, my bet is he would not.
i know i will never go back to the stock (235)size tire .
you can save some money by buying the 225'* but your car will not handle as well
and dont forget that a good tire lasts 50 to 70k and if you buy a tire and dont like it
your stuck with it or you spend more money on a different tire , just trying to help.

I've heard of belts breaking...but never slipping. The belts and cords in a tire can not "slip", they can only break.

Also...I've never had a complaint about a Michelin tire...expect the price. Both of the tires you have picked out look pretty good...

The Hankooks.. are known to be a very hard riding tire. Which helps in their handling department.. if you don't have tight suspension and are relying on the tire to do most of your handling versus the suspension of the car, that would be one way to increase handling.

I'm currently running Pirelli PZero Neros for summer..(although they are all season and would probably rock in the winter) and have Michelins for winter.

Any tire can be ok in winter.. as long as you understand it'* limits and don't try to out drive it'* ability. A great tire for winter is not overly wide.. wider makes you ride up on top of the snow, and that makes you have much less control at all speeds.

I guess we can get lost in the symantics and terminology, the fact remains that I had a terrible experience with the same tires that Andrew is looking at and wouldnt dare recommend them to our dear friend Andrew.
