Default Need a Little help

I just got a Borla Performance straight through muffler for my 97 SE and i was wondering should i take out the cat? if anyone could let me know if that would sound better (even though it sounds awesome as is. And i was wondering if anyone has a whining coming from their engine like i do just sounds like the power steering whine but its there all the time.

Thanks
Bret

I don't believe you can leagely remove the cat. I woudl suggest leaving it on. Or change over to a magnaflow free flow cat, that'* what I did. And it did deepen the tone just a little.

...plus, without it, you smell like a cheap lawnmower. Everything in back starts to get this ugly whiff of unburnt hydrocarbons, as if one of the cylinders was misfiring.

Definitely.

mine whines alot..... tee - hee , seriously though, One thing you can do is , while the engine is running, CAREFULLY touch a long screwdriver or extension to the housing of a moving part. That will tell you which part it is. It could also be as simple as a worn belt or tensioner pulley.
