well i sound like my tranny went but heres what happened i was on the highway crusin normal no beating on it and then i got off the highway stoped at a stop light and it turns green and the bonnie will barly move, it gets up to 2k 2.5 rpms and it just starting to move revese is normal. the motor was running hotter then normal and there was some smoke coming from under the front manifold but that could be left over oil from the day before putting more oil in it

Check your fuses, you should find one labeled misc engine may have cruise control on that circuit as well. If this goes out the trans will have little to no oil pressure and will slip like crazy but will still limp home. I seem to recall reverse will slip but not as bad.

OK, so that fuse was blown? Unplug the transmission, does the fuse blow? If yes, unplug the cruise control. After that start checking for a short.

so with some research thats the trans control unit so could that mean that that unit is bad or something inside the tranny

Before you go tearing into the tranny, I would check every inch of the wire you can. A small cut in the wire could cause the short. Make sure nothing is melted etc. DO NOT put in a bigger fuse. The fuse is blowing for a reason, and circumventing that is just going to cause you bigger issues.

like ive said ive checked the wires i do not see a cut or melted wire and the it wasnt that much of a bigger fuse but that couple amp more fuse showed me it a electrical problem and not a tranny problem

Just making sure you REALLY checked the wires out. We had someone before tear the transmission apart and find out it was a wire.... lots of work to find out it was just a wire. I would hate for you to do the same.
