Ok, found the problem. The bolt that holds in the lower control arm is missing. It'* the bolt that holds in this piece in the following pic: http://www.mnbonnevilleclub.com/misc...e/DSC02539.JPG

Now for the axle. It appears that I will be able to just place the axle back into the socket and bolt up the conrtol arm again. Now should I be worried about anything when I put the axle back into the houseing? More grease? New grease? Boots? anything?

Here is what it looks like now:

Depends on if the bearing assembly for the inner cv joint is not damage, if damage you will be better off purchasing the whole half shaft from your local parts store and replacing, that would be just a remove and replace. If the bearing joint assembly is damage you will have to get that part from the parts store and disassembling the plug joint repacking the bearing and reinstalling the shaft back into the trans. If not damage you will need a the inner boot grease and clamps. And have the alignment check the lower control arm may be bent. Also check the bolt and nut assembly on the passenger side for tightness.
Good luck.

From comparing the manual to the pictures I got, it looks like the bearing are missing. You can see in this pic http://www.mnbonnevilleclub.com/misc...e/DSC02538.JPG that there is only one bearing left inside the joint. Hopefully I will get the keys this afternoon sometime so I can secure the car and jack it up to take a better look at it.

LOL, I actually had to behave myself for most of the night. Just happened that I sat at a table right in the front middle of the stage.... and the CEO sat at my table, CFO fight behind me, and CIO the table on the other side. Kinda fun shootin' the **** with the CEO though. So I behaved myself and kept the drinking to a respectable few classes of wine... at least until the presentations were over.
