TCC stuck off........torque convertor issues.
Well you could try a good tranny flush, might loosen something? This can cause more problems than it cures if you have not been a regular flusher (loosen debris that can clog passages at a later date) but as a last ditch attempt?
It looks like the culprate to my tranny woes maybe the 3rd sprag? Only a $30 part but I needed a whole rebuild to fix it.

Oh man.. that code. Don't f***ing remind me.
It'* the TCC switch. Cost us $1,800 for a rebuild in the Montana (74k miles). Ugh, I hate the 4T65. I didn't think the -HD'* even had this problem.

P-Dad, does that mean that the TCC solenoid is not functioning upon Computer command?
So far I have not heard a lot of good about the 4T65-E'*... They were supposed to be a good improvement over the 4T60-E... I saw a 97 Transport( Montanna Package I guess ) It had the wheels and all of the trim... It had a 4T60-E and 170,000 miles on it... still working good too...
we may have to see what the PCM looks for when it sets that code..

I think some shops will serivce just the TCC, call around and see. I'd follow Jr'* lead on what sets the code to see if there'* anything to check before having someone dive into it.

Jeff is there any other Trans shops around that will look at it for you... Other the the P0742 code, does the trans shift good with no issues?

If the PCM detects 3 occourences of TCC slip -20 to + 25 Rpms when the TCC is commanded off, then the P0742 sets..
I'd be looking for another place to have a glance at the car and if all is fine with the trans I'd simply have the TCC solenoid replaced as opposed to a complete rebuild...
