PCV stands for positive crankcase ventilation. Air pressure builds up in your crankcase. If it has nowhere to bleed off, it will push your gaskets out, causing severe oil leaks. It is a one-way valve, so nothing foriegn gets into the crankcase. It has a vacuum tube connected to the intake manifold to suck the hot gasses out.

I don't have any info about the previous owner. I bought the car from a GM dealership, and they won't tell me anything about the last owner. Apparently it was an "old man" who bought the car there and traded it in on a new one. This ticks me off because he would likely have had his maintenance done there, so there should have been a record.

I wonder if you'd be able to find out by entering the VIN # and doing a used car search on the internet. It will tell you a lot of things but may not tell you the owner. The dealership should have told you. You have a right to know.

www.carfax.com does that, you input the VIN and all this info comes up...I can't say for sure tho, cuz it only works for cars in the US
