tempted to wash it with wax and grease remover and spray silver or clear engine paint on it. :? that will most likely peal, stain and cloud...

is that heater bypass nipple still the oe plastic? if so, it is definitely worth the 5 bucsk for a new steel one.

my father is/was a plumber. was going to grab a nipple from his parts bin.

what is the reaction of aluminum and steel, copper or brass? i know some are not compatible?

which do i need? i think i'll use brass like the coolant temp sensors right?

the replacement ones are steel. brass would be fine im sure. but they have an o-ring on the end of the threads. idk if ur dad will have one like you need. they have em in the help section.

The replacement part that GM sells for this is steel with an O-ring.

the heads and intake has some small pits. i decided to swipe them with 'real seal' gasket maker just to fill the pits. we will see how it works.

The coolant bypass fittings at ALL auto parts stores are steel. Not just the dealer.

i know right. i think previous owner tried opening the runners up with a hatchet. i really don't have the time now :( i need to get this together asap and then do a transmission swap on my cousins tahoe. in addition rough design a concept for a new automation system for work before flying out to palm springs on the 27th for the automation conference. all with a 40 plus hour work week.

No previous owner touched that LIM. That'* factory hatchet work. You think that'* bad, go look at an L36 LIM.

30 minutes is all it'll take. More power and better fuel mileage. Vastly improved throttle response.
