Default My jaw almost fell out of my head

Stopped at a little rinky-dink car dealer today to look at a decent looking SSE I saw the other day. Got to looking at it, body looks awesome, just needs a polish and wax. Interior was OK, leather was starting to show its age (1989 if I didn't mention it). So I go and ask the woman in the front about the car. Me: "What are y'all asking for the red Bonneville over there?" Woman: "Well, they just put a new transmission in it, so we're asking $4,995". :o They're crazy. 5G for a 1989 SSE? lmao

But even then, $2500? Especially seeing as this thing is in about the same shape as mine, and my KBB is only $1500.

Shoooooooot! You should see how many people my dealership rips off in sales. If that place you went finances, they may get 5k from some poor credit slob.

5 large??

Offer them 2 and make sure they have the receipts for the tranny work which I'd assume would have some sort of warranty.

I'm not offering them anything, I get a bad feeling about this place. This car was decent, but the rest look like lemons, lol. I'll have to make due with my car for now. Plus, the way you can find Bonnevilles around here, 2 is way to much. I could've got a 1995 SLE that all it needed was the intake manifolds from a friend of mine for $325, but I couldn't sell my truck in time.

I would agree that some poor slob with a stinkin' credit history will talk them down a little bit and then pay 21% interest on the loan... <shakes head>....just to have a car to drive daily.

I see it all the time.

Yup, same here. We have the little rinky dink car dealer/repair garages, and you ask why the price is so much, and they say it had alot of work done to it, so then you ask for the invoices and the ALWAYS say "We did the work before putting it up for sale, so we don't have reciepts." It'* typical.

Yeah, it happens all the time. Take, for instance, a 1992 Bonneville SSEi with 116k miles for 3200 smackers. They said it had TONS of work done, and that it wouldn't need anything for a while. Well, the stupid thing doesn't idle right, it heats up when driving bumper to bumper, the a/c is, for lack of a good word, f***ed due to this stupid hillbilly that put an A/C SWITCH under the f-in gain control. Now the parking brake won't hold, and it might need a new alt. soon. Heh, I wonder who the stupid-head was that bought that P.O.*.
