Default My Best Kill.....Almost!

Well tonight was my night! Sitting at the last lights before the highway starts. I'm in the far left lane, a POS in middle lane and 2000 Golf in far right lane. The light turns green and the Golf & I leave POS car in dust wondering WTF! We were neck & neck....right upto 100 MPH, then 105 MPH, then 110 MPH, then my governor kicks in, he edges forward about half a car length, then one full car length, I can't go any faster! Damn Governor kost me that one! Everything was perfect: 2000 Golf 2 dr VS 92 SE 3800 NA 4 dr! I had it pinned at 4700 RPM'* & 110 MPH too! His face afterwards was great too! I don't think he thought I could keep up with him that long! Just a good thing it was late at night & nobody on the road! It actually just happened about 5 min ago in fact! Well it was my closest race in a long time anyways, too bad he didn't have a governor in his car!

You're getting a little too old to be racing......but not too old to GOLF, apparently.

I've been car racing longer than most members here have been alive! Besides, you're never too old to race! Just too old to remember what not to race! LOL

I feel your pain.... that stupid governor cost me a kill too...
I can't wait till I do ( or have the money ) to do most of the mods I want so I can get the DHP PCM w/o governor amongst everything else. The performance shop also told me to find someone that can reburn the chip to remove the governor.. Rat ?? Since you work for a dealership... any ideas ?

I feel your pain. One time, I was neck and neck with my friend'* '00 Mustang, then suddenly she starts pulling away. Looked down at my speedometer and there it is, 108mph! It'* just a tad bit annoying, but I suppose its better in the long run (I still have the original trans at 160k)

Curious, how exactly can the governor be eliminated?

It is part of the PCM. You would need to get an aftermarket PCM like a DHP chip. You might be able to get your stock chip redone but an aftermarket would be the best way to go.

SSEi95 is right, the only way is to get the existing chip reburned w/o the governer option!
