Thanks for the input guys, as for the few that asked about that right front strut, it is fine, the strut tower too most of the blow and pushed the tower back close to 5 inches. I check the strut a few times and it survived without a scratch.

Thanks for the input on the fuel pump. I may swap the whole in tank unit when I swap the lines. I assume the tanks are the same since the one on my 97 has a hole in it from a loader.

At first I was planning only swapping parts of the car but it looks like I may be doing almost all of it. May be a little more work, but in the end it should turn out how I want.

I will be replacing the intake gaskets, I picked up all the right parts already. I used the part numbers in the thread that was posted on replacing them.

As for the dex, should I use ot or just use the green stuff? Or is there a better dex out there to use?

Its nice you guys know so much about these cars as know very little about this car, but afterwards I should know everything. Now if it were a Fiero, I could tell you anything you wanted to know.

After I am done with this, I will be parting out what is left. I will have lots of grey interior parts, parts from my old series 1 motor. I also have another 92 se bonneville to part out, and I have a extra series 2 supurcharged motor I pulled from a riveria.

Are the pinouts for the two fuel pumps (in regards to the sender) the same?

On the LL, Dex, green or any color....I'd probably go with any color these days.

I can tell you from experience that the coolant doesn't appear to matter unless the car doesn't drive frequently. Then Dex will create a sludge. I've seen plastic gaskets look crappy on LL, Green and Dex all. I assume any color will also have bad plastic gaskets. Although other GM cars with the same material don't appear to share the issue.

Go with the new style gaskets and smile all day with whatever coolant you'd like.

The Prestone LL Dex compatible is a proven performer here. There are all sorts of rumors on the internet about mixing green and dex, even rumors about traces of dex crystalizing on internal gasket edges after adding green. I haven't confirmed any of that, but FWIW, the coolant reccommended in Techinfo and used most commonly here as a replacement is safe.

DEX creates sludge with age most commonly if air is introduced in the system. It turns acidic. Most Gearheads here (particularly those that collaborated on the Techinfo article) will reccommend the LL above all other types.

We had on car here that originally had green, and DEX was used later. The results later weren't pretty. Whether that was from the low-ratio mix or some other factor isn't known.

I'm one of the testers and original suggesters of the LL. As time passes we learn more.

I swapped with composite gaskets before aluminum wasn't available. Flushed 6 ways from your choice on days of the week and refilled with distilled water and Prestone LL. Two years later my gaskets were starting to collapse inward. Acid eats, heat warps. The coolant was not acidic or sludging.

Observations from personal experience with mine and many others has shown me that you can basically choose any coolant you'd like as long as you follow two guidlelines.
1. Maintain your coolant properly
2. Use the latest gaskets availabe, aluminum frame.

Keep in mind that the aluminum gaskets have not been available for any length of time and to my knowledge no one has removed them after a year or two at this point.

good thing you guys talked me into changing the intake gaskets, both were broken around the coolant outlets, and would have started leaking very soon. I just got it apart, and I will post pics once I get it back together.

I just used the fel pro intake gaskets as the dealer didn't have the new ones you talk of in stock. I figure if the old ones lasted 10 years, the new ones should last long enough.

As for the antifreeze, I'll just use the new dex stuff thats out. I may only have this car for another couples years if that and as long as it last through then, I'll be happy.

I'm installing the motor saturday and will post more pictures, then it shoulf take a couple weeks to tie up the rest of the stuff. I just baught a 97 Bravada today and need to fix a couple things on it too so can't devote all my time to the bonneville.
