Ok everyone...let'* relax on the off topic stuff and help him.
When was the last time you replaced your O2 sensor? The O2 is the single most mpg contributing sensor if your car seems to be running ok.

though I thought my suggestion was on topicDOH, of course the O2 sensor. completely forgot about that little bugger. my car was getting crappy gas mileage all of a sudden a few months back. New O2 sensor and she was back where she should be

Actually, if you do have big rust holes, they will catch air and cause drag, thus reducing the MPG, but not by that much, you may be losing 1mpg from the holes. I highly reccomend you replace your O2 and cam sensor.

would the J/Y be an option? or is it too risky? at least get the cam sensor there maybe..
