No sudden stops = more coasting = less time on the throttle. It'* how I drive.

At the ONBF 2007 weekend, the massive 1.5L in the Civic got 31mpg thanks to lots of WOT keeping up with the 3800'*. Compare to my typical 36-38mpg mixed city/hwy normally, and last week I actually got 46mpg on a highway road trip in which I drove very conservatively, never really exceeding 3000rpm. For you Canadians, this is all US gallons (1 gal = 3.78L).

MOS is right on about a steady 70 beating a steady 55. On the agressive driving part, my GXP is a poster child for it. I can be in town all night and run through a bottle of NOX and come home showing 10.4 MPG, Or drive to Ohio
responsibly between 70-80 ~ No laffing now,... I have done it ~ and got a respectable 24.7 MPG . It really makes a difference how you plant your foot.

Any time you hit the gas pedal when you don't need to you are wasting gas. Basically you want to stay at a steady speed as much as you can. If you drive in the city, learn the lights. You'll be amazed at how you can keep at a steady pace. In our city I used to take a section downtown to work where there are five lights a block apart with a 30 mph speed limit. You'll see everyone take off and drive 35-40mph and then stop at the next light. Well I found out shortly that if I took off at a green on the first light, and stayed at the 30mph speed limit, I could go through all five lights without stopping. Another one I never really did until recently is using the highway as much as possible. I golf up north a way with my dad on Thursdays, and I can either stay on the highway which might cost me a mile extra, or take the business route through town to our house. I've been sticking to the highway rather than going downtown and hitting lights. Also if I go through the drive-thru at the bank and there are a couple cars or more in front of me, I'll just shut it off until it'* my turn. I've heard it'* a waste of gas if you idle for more than 30 seconds versus shutting it off.

I've found my car gets the best mpg at 60-65 mph if the instant is accurate. 60-65 I get 32-34mpg. Normally I drive 75 and get 29-30 mpg.

Hey sqela I have the same thing (L27 w/ 2.84) and I was getting about 280-290 on a full tank with some mildly aggressive city driving and some easy highway driving. I cleaned my MAF sensor, and cleaned the front of the throttle body with it still on the car, and I have now been able to get 360 miles to a tank. My gas milage could get better too, if I had a new o2. I suggest you clean the throttle body and the maf sensor. If I had cleaned more than the front of my throttle body, i'm sure I could be getting even better milage. Hope this helps! (also, do you have a stereo system? weight=less MPG)

no steroes but I got 5 quarts of oil,gallon of coolant and a gallon of tranny fluid and also when I fill up I notice it only takes 14-15 gallons even when its empty to the point of staling
