Thank God I never went there because I have torn a strip or ten off a few shops in this area. Evne though I am licensed I don't work in the trade anymore (3 years out) there are still jobs that I am unable to do at home such as alignments and AC work. So I end up bringing it into a shop to get the work done and ...just... that work done. It is funny when they try to tack on extra work or billing or try and tell me that something is wrong with my car. I say really....Can I see?

For instance... I took my car into a Goodyear for an alignment after doing my struts and I needed the safetu inspection as well (I used to sign them myself!!). The tech came back out an said that the right inner tie rod was loose. Sure enough it had a slight bit of play in it so I said just to do it because I was getting an alignment done anyway. So he does it up and then the bill comes. Here they are charging he 2.1 hrs for an inner tie rod plus an alignement plus the inspection. Well.....I lost it!!! I snapped!!! I said that an inner tie rod 2.1 hrs includes the alignment and the guy says no it doesn't. I said oh really...It takes 2 hrs to change an inner tie rod eh? He says yep. I said ok...do you have the flat rate manual where you can show me that? (At this point he started to lose colour from his face) He pulls out the manual and I swing it around to me and point out exactly where it says includes alignment. Talk about a burn!!! He still tried to argue with me and I pulled out my wallet and showed him my Mechanics Licence. His jaw dropped and I asked him if he wanted to jerk me around anymore. In short, I got the job for 1.5 hrs total and he threw in the inspection. I walked out and never went back there. That is just one example...I have more including a good AC clutch one!!!

Anyway, Merlin I am sending you a personal message (since we live in the same town).
I feel for you buddy!

it might make them look worse if you lodge each incident separatly, so instead of one complaint form with 10 things on it, you have 10 forms with one complaint each  Good idea to go over their heads, that might actually get something done.

Man, Customer Service is what I do for a living, and there's almost always some way to make a happy customer. Even something as simple as waving the inspection fee would probably have prevented this particular thread.

Heck, I'm not even a real supervisor at work, and I have all kinds of options of waiving this fee, or refunding some amount just to make a customer happy.

I would definitely not let anymore of m money go through that shop.
