Default Might be buying a Lumina LTZ 3800

I talked to a guy that has a Lumina Laying around and he says it is a 1996-1999 Lumina. And he thinks it has a 3800. I looked at one of these a few months ago. Luminas were available with Series II from 1996-1999 I believe. How can i tell if it has the 4t60 or 4t65 transmission? He only wants $500 for the car! and i can prolly talk him down to $300 or $400. All it needs is a battery and paint.

If it'* a 96 it'* a 4t60, that'* all they came with that year. If it'* 97-99 the easiest way to tell is look at the side pan on the drivers side. A 4t65e transmission will have the electrical plug coming out on the drivers side of the pan, a 4t60 transmission will be coming out the front.

I had a 99 LTZ with the 3800. Car was a sleeper. Was so light and so fast!! Loved that car just as much as my SSEi. Now that I sold my Regal,.....I think I am back in the market for another Bonneville.

I could have had a 98 LTZ with the 3800, but the overall condition of the car was poor compared to my car which is 8 years older and pretty much rust free, where the lumina had a bit much for a 98. but they are good looking with their quad exhaust and lowerd facisia'*. quick since it'* light like mentioned, but based off the monte, which im not a fan of the interior on either cars.

I used to have a Lumina.. They are ok. But i would of jumped on it if it had the 3.8. Trying to get this 1993 Bonneville "Fake Softtop" (cant remember the right term for that option) for $200. The top was in good condition. and the rest of the car seems to be in good condition.

Nothing really wrong with that 3100. You can get a great load of power doing a top swap with a 3400 or 3500 heads and intakes, and the 60v6 3x00 engines (3800'* excluded) sound 100000x better than any 3800 with a stock cam.
