Ok, I hate the chiltons and haynes manuals. Not specific enough for me. Just wondering if anyone out there other than these two have written a repair manual or a book with indepth things about this engine and trans. I might splurge for the Bonneville GM manuals and other stuff they have for the engine and trans. Wish I did that for my Yukon, I might still have it.

The only thing that comes to mind would be www.alldata.com but its online and not a book (unless you printed all those pages.)

To further mention.. the Helm manuals are the Factory Service Manuals. These are the books the GM factory wrote for the mechanics at the dealership. Alldata is right up there with them. Difference is..paper is a one time buy and Alldata is a renewal price every year.

I have both the FSM and an AllData subscription. I use the FSM maybe 5% of the time, and AllData the rest. (I also have the GM servicing disk that I haven't figured in here.) The reasons are that is is available anywhere I go, as long as I have a computer and internet access, it is much easier to navigate to find the information you need, has virtually the same information, and is a less "overwhelming" in particular for someone just starting out. You print out what you need, when you need it.

The minus is that it is a subscription service. The first one is the most expensive. Adding vehicles then get a discount, and renewals are also discounted.

I find that many times I can find something quicker in the book.

Could be familiarity, Bill. Last one was trying to find info on temperature vs pressure for the A/C.
