$5,000! If you drive all the way here, you've already paid. I can hook it up and see what it shows for my car, but it may not be the whole story, as my system is working ok. I'll try to get to that tomorrow and see what I can find out.

I hooked up the scanner today, and I can not say for certain that it will read your problem. The O2 sensor wouldn't be a probem, but can't say it will for the stability system. Looking at the schematics, it shows it is all controlled by the EBCM (electronic brake control module). The scanner did not find that specific module.

I have an email in to Auto Enginuity'* tech support, asking if it is supported. I haven't received an answer as of yet. If my experience with my son'* ABS system is any indicator, I expect to hear that it is not supported. Their answer on that was that it uses the older ALDL system for ABS, that they do not support.

I'd hate to have you drive all this way before I get an answer, and have it be a wasted trip for you.

A Tech 2 on EBay runs you about $1700 - $2500 depending upon the configuration you get. The lower end will get you the scantool and a cable (the basics). That'* all you need. Some come with a "CANDI" module which allows you to hook up to newer cars (i.e. Cadillacs) that use the CAN data bus. You don't need that.

For a basic setup (tool + cable) I would not pay more than $1800 + shipping. For one with a CANDI module I would not pay more than $2500.

I will be selling this one in about a week, are you interested? Honestly I can't cut you a deal, but I'll sell it to you for what I paid for it. This particular unit has the carrying case, manuals + books, and the CANDI module, so it would run you $2400, what I paid for it. You could then sell it on EBay and maybe make a profit of about $100 or so, or simply break even for a quick sale.
