Figured this would be an easy topic for a 'search' but didn't initially find anything specifically pertaining to it.

I want to replace both visors in my '97 Bonneville. The 'pocket' material on both of them is so limp and stretched out (no jokes ), they practically hinder line of sight.

I have the gray cloth visors (as do many), so am looking for direct fit replacements from another car model, without that poorly designed pocket.

Has anybody tossed their OEM visors and replaced them with nice ones? Thanks, Steve.

I am interested to see what ppl on here have to say about this as well, as I have the same problem, but I just figured that it would cost a fortune to fix so I put it on the back burner.

My 97 does the same thing. Because I don't really use them, I use those sunvisor CD holders with the velcro straps.

Other than cutting the pocket off, I know of no other fix for them.

go to a junkyard and find better ones junkyards are fun + things are cheap

Did that at several salvage yards a month or so ago. Did find some, but the same exact limp, hanging pocket crap.

Just figured there might be somebody out there who has replaced their limp, hanging crap visors.

I went and bought headliner material and made new covers. Took the old stuff off, made patterns and sewed new ones. Kinda hard to do, but looks good.

I had an AMC Renault (yes, that is an interesting mix) once and the visors had deteriorated. I removed them saving the bracket. I went to the lumber shop and got some thin laminate type board and using the old as a pattern cut out the shape of the visor with a jigsaw. I riveted the bracket to the laminate type board and then I covered them in a faux suede fabric and remounted them. They worked and looked great. The head liner had fallen, so I use the same faux suede fabric and glued it to the headliner backing.

I've never really thought about it, but I've got the same problem with my visors, as well as the elastic nets on the back of the seats.

Brent, you could make a small fortune here if you're good at making visors.

Those were my first, probably my last, lol.
