Sounds silly, but wouldn't it have been easier to use a pair of vise grips on the hood shocks, rather than risk injury from a wood block? LOL, been there, done that, it hurts too...

Oh, and make sure its the IRWIN vise grips!

Not my car so I'm not clamping a vise grips on the strut. The 2x4 worked fine.

Yeah, now that you mention it that would of been the better choice, the hood struts will be replaced this summer

Oh i know what you're saying. But if the hood shocks need replacing, a clamp isn't gonna hurt it more, lol. Its just that i've had the hood fall on me, and its not fun at all. Best thing to do, is fork over the cash for new hood shocks.
