WOW that junk yard sounds cheeeeeeeap... .you oughtta find out what an axle for my pickup would cost... LOL.. JU here wants $500 exchange, and Im out of ideas... told the rear end is going out. I believe em tho... I kicks when u put it in reverse, and twice now, I have put it in reverse and heard the worst grinding noise, but 2nd time I noticed my rpms going up while it was doing it, so my driveline was spinning, but the truck wasnt moving ... sorry to rant here... I cant find another forum with people as caring and responsive as all you guys here.
EDIT: 3.73 Gear ratio.. 14 bolt pattern RPO GT4 G80 (positrac)

by "they" i assume you mean a shop. i would think they would check the u-joints first if you heard a noise when you went into reverse., but you just may wanna do that yourself, to be sure. feel free to post a thread in the lounge. then more can help you in one area.

its not that far from the bridge. from the tunnel you could get there in about 10-15 minutes. it is on 8 mile, just west of hoover. name is "parts galore"

in my 92 buick i have to use a different prom, or "chip". my stock 92 prom has settings for a nonsupercharged 3800. i need one to run the swapped sc'd eng correctly. and that one that i stumbled upon was from an ssei and also had the correct setting for the gear ratio of my trans, so i didnt have to get it re-flashed.

**edit** the coolest part is that he rang up the prom, eng cover, and trim pieces as "misc parts" for $3.63! and a dealer replacement would be $105.79
