To run an IRC server does not require a web server - in fact, it is completely separate from the web server. If someone out there runs a server (as in, has full unrestricted administrative access) on a serious (not DSL, not cable) connection and would be willing to host an IRC server, let me know.

So I get the picture now but I have a question. Why does it say I can have an chat set up? Is it just a lame version of one or would I just need to increase bandwidth for it. Just wondering.

It might be a java-based deal, it might be a message board like this one. Hard to say without looking at it. :?

A little help please.. I just downloaded MIRC and I don't know how to get it onto where it'* suppose to go...

open mIRC, get to the "Server" window, type "/server some.server.com 9999", then type "/join #SomeChannel"
