Are the interior lights of a 2002 automatic?, meaning...Do they only come on if the car is dark( such as at night). I am asking because in the day light when i open my doors my lights do not come on. My D.I.C...shows driver door ajar, i can not lock my keys in the car, the chime goes off and I can turn the lights on or off with the switch. AT night when i open the doors the lights come on.

Yes, they use the daylight sensor to see if the lights should be on or not, kind of a nice little thing, same with the perimter lighting if you have that set up, at night the DRLs and the reverse lights turn on when you unlock the car from the remote
