You definately wont' be dissapointed. The benefits far outweigh the cons for making the upgrade.

Only issue with 96'* would be tranny and PCM if you want to do any performance type modding. Otherwise it'* very solid car, but you knew that already.

4T60 tranny last year in 97 came the 4T65 which is said to be a little weaker
